Pocatello, Idaho is the county seat of Bannock County where most of the city is, with a small part of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation located in Power County. It began its life as a very important railroad stop during the Gold Rush, and was named in honor of the chief of the Shoshoni tribe, Chief Pocatello, who allowed the railroad access right-of-way across the reservation.
