Born on December 18, 1943 in Kent, England, singer, songwriter, and musician Keith Richards learned to play his guitar listening to the likes of Billie Holiday, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson. He dropped the "s" at the end of his last name at the direction of the band manager, who thought that "Keith Richard" just looked more "pop." Keith reclaimed that "s" in the early 1970s. He has battled drug addiction for much of his life. He had three children with long-time partner actress Anita Pallenberg. They separated in 1979. In 1983, he married model Patti Hansen, and they have two daughters.
