George Ivan Morrison,who later became Singer and songwriter Van Morrison, was born on August 31, 1945 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He began his musical career at the age of 15 locally, but he found worldwide fame with his recording of "Brown Eyed Girl." He moved to the United States that year and though he was facing deportation because of problems with his visa, he married his American girlfriend, Janet "Planet" Rigsbee and moved to Boston. They had a daughter, Shana Morrison, who grew up to be a singer and songwriter herself. Van and Shana divorced in 1973. He moved back to the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. He is married to Michelle Rocca, a socialite from Ireland, and they began dating in 1992. They are married and have a daughter and a sone, born in 2006 and 2007, respectively.
