Born in McAlester, Oklahoma on March 28, 1955, Reba McEntire, American country music singer, started out her musical career in a band which she started with her brother and her younger sister when they were young. She began singing at rodeos and football games, and cut her first record deal in 1976. That same year, she married national steer wrestling champion Charlie Battles. She divorced him in 1987. She married her manager, Narvel Blackstock, in 1989. She raised his three children and together they had a son in 1990. They remain married. While she and her band were on tour in March of 1991, one of the two charter jets carrying her and the band crashed into Otay Mountain near San Diego, California on the way home from a performance. Eight of her band members were killed. She dedicated her 16th album, "For My Broken Heart," to those eight people.
