Audrey Hepburn Ruston (May 4, 1929 - January 20, 1993), an actress who was born in Brussels, Belgium, was born Audrey Ruston. She took her name from the third husband of Mary Queen of Scots, James Hepburn, from whom her father erroneously believed them to be descended. She took ballet lessons as a teenager and got work as a part time model, and she eventually drifted into acting. By chance, she met Colette, the author of the play Gigi, and Colette had her cast in the title role on Broadway, and her career took off from there as she was cast opposite such stars as Fred Astaire, William Holden, Anthony Perkins, and Cary Grant. She died in her sleep of abdominal cancer which had spread from her appendix.
