Born in Cambridge, England on March 6, 1946, rock musician and co-lead vocalist of Pink Floyd David Gilmour was encouraged to pursue his interest in music by his parents and inspired by Bill Haley's music. He joined Pink Floyd in 1967 and set new standards for the rock world and concerts. He had four children with his first wife, artist Ginger Hasenbein to whom he was married from 1975 until their divorce in 1990. He married Polly Samson, a journalist, in 1994, and they too have four children.
