Garland, Judy

Frances Ethel Gumm (June 10, 1922 - June 22, 1969), who most of us know as Judy Garland, was a vaudevillian, an actress, and a singer. When she was 15, she starred as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," which is the role for which she was probably most famous. She was in more than 25 movies, including "A Star Is Born" and several with Mickey Rooney. She was married five times and divorced four times. She is the mother of Liza Minelli, daughter of her second husband Vincente Minnelli, and a son and daughter, Joseph Luft and Lorna Luft, with her third husband, Sidney Luft. Judy Garland fought a lifelong battle with drugs and alcohol and died died of an overdose of barbiturate when she was only 47 years old.
