Stephen Colbert was born on May 13, 1964 in Washington, D.C. into a family of 11 children. His father was a doctor as well as the dean of Yale University's medical school. Colbert still practices Catholicism. He is a political satirist and writer, a comedian, and a television show host. He is scheduled to take David Letterman's place on The Late Show upon Letterman's retirement. He has the distinction of being the only person to run for the United Stated Presidency while assuming the identity of a fictional persona. He is married to Evelyn McGee-Colbert and they have three children.
