Formed in Liverpool, England, in 1960, the rock band named The Beatles was made up of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They were the center of Beatlemania, a faux condition their fans had which caused them to lose their minds temporarily, scream, and faint. They remain the best-selling band to in America, with more than 177 million units sold. They were knighted in June of 1965, and each of them have a minor planet named after them. They broke up in 1970 over numerous disagreements, not the least of which was John's relationship with his second wife, Yoko Ono. They each went on to enjoy healthy careers without the other Beatles. Although Beatles fans insisted on believing that they would one day reunite, that did not happen. John was shot and killed by a madman in 1980 in front of his home in New York. In 2001, George died of lung cancer. Paul and Ringo still work at their craft. Paul's long-time wife, Linda Eastman, died in 1998 after 29 years of marriage. They had four children. His second wife, Heather Mills, was married to him from 2002 until 2008 when they went through a very nasty and very public divorce. They had one child. He married his third and current wife, Nancy Shevell, in 2011. Ringo married his first wife, Maureen, in 1965 and she divorced him in 1975. They had three children. He married actress Barbara Bach in 1981, and they live parttime in each of their homes in Surrey, Los Angeles, and Monte Carlo.
