Richard Armitage was born on August 22, 1971 in Leicester, England. Before becoming a famous actor, he joined a circus in Budapest, Hungary while he awaited his Equity card. He then returned to Britain where he began performing in musical theater, before moving on to dramatic stage shows. The self-described method actor went on to act in television shows including "Robin Hood," "Spooks," and "Robin Hood," and on the big screen as Thorin Oakenshield in a trilogy of "The Hobbit" movies.
