The county seat of Campbell County, Wyoming is Gillette, which calls itself the “Energy Capital of the Nation. It was incorporated less than two years after Wyoming was accepted into the Union in 182 and named in honor of Edward Gillette, a surveyor for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The city of Gillette is the namesake of Gillette Syndrome, which is the social disruption which happens within a community because of rapid population growth, frequently due to oil or coal booms.
