Cheyenne, Wyoming, is the capital of the state of Wyoming as well as the county seat of Laramie County. In 1867, General Grenville Dodge and his crew of surveyors went through the Dakota Territory and platted various places, including what is now Cheyenne. It was named in honor of the American Plains Indians who were the Cheyenne Nation.
