The city of Pewaukee, which is part of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, surrounds the Village of Pewaukee. The name is derived from the word “Pee-wauk-ee-wee-nick,” which means “the dusty water.” It was incorporated as a city in 1999 from portions of the now-obsolete town which were not included in the Village.
