The county seat of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin is the city of Milwaukee, which is the Algonquin word for “good land.” A Canadian explorer named Solomon Juneau settled in the area in 1818. In 1846, his settlement and two other towns melded together and formed the City of Milwaukee.
