Situated on the banks of the Dungeness River at the base of the Olympic Mountains, the city of Sequim is part of Clallam County, Washington. The Europeans first settled the area in the 1850s, where the water was plenty and the land was fertile. There are farms throughout the area, mostly dairy farms, and it was official incorporated in 1913. The longest continuously running festival in the state, the Irrigation Festival, has been celebrated in the city since 1895.
