Bremerton, Washington is located in Kitsap County and is where you will find both the Bremerton Annex of Naval Base Kitsap and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Connected to Seattle by a ferry ride, Bremerton is divided by the Port Washington Narrows with a bridge which connects the east and west sides of the city. in 1891, German immigrant William Bremer planned the town, which he and his brother-in-law and business partner Henry Hensel bought the land which was to become the Navy Yard. Bremerton was incorporated in 1901. World Wars I and II both enriched the economy of Bremerton, and there is a statue in town to honor the place where the words “Give ‘em hell, Harry” were first spoken during a speech President Truman gave in town.
