The county seat of Loudoun County, Virginia, is Leesburg. It was settled in 1755 around the tavern which Nicholas Minor built on his land at the intersection of Old Carolina and Potomac Ridge Roads. The town was established in 1758 by the Virginia General Assembly on the 60 acres which Minor had laid out. It was named in honor of Thomas Lee, great grand uncle of Robert E. Lee.
