Brattleboro, Vermont, is a town in Windham County. It is the oldest town in the state, having orginally consisted of a blockhouse and stockade which was meant to defend the Massachusetts Bay Colony during Drummer’s War. The construction took only a few months and was completed in 1724, and in 1753, the town was chartered and named “Brattleborough,” in honor of Colonel William Brattle, Jr.
