Logan, Utah was founded by Mormon settlers sent in 1859 by Brigham Young himself to see about establishing a fort near the Logan River. It is situated in Utah’s Cache County and named in honor of local fur trapper Ephraim Logan and incorporated in early 1866. Shortly after the exploration, men began working on the construction of a Mormon tabernacle and a temple. Brigham Young College was founded by the church leader himself in Logan in 1877, less than a month before he died. It was a school of one kind or another until 1926, and was closed and the buildings sold to the city. Logan High School now sits on the former site of the college.
