The city of Grapevine, Texas is co-located in Dallas and Tarrant Counties. In 1843, Grape Vine Springs, as it was known then, General Sam Houston and other Commissioners of the Republic of Texas camped there and met with the leaders of 10 Indian nations. This meeting ultimately led to the signing of a peace treaty which opened the door to settlers moving into the area to homestead in the community of Grape Vine. In 1914, the post office changed the town’s name to Grapevine, as one word. The town became infamous on Easter Sunday of 1934, a member of the Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow gang murdered two police officers near Grapevine on State Highway 114.
