Originally named Rudd’s Ferry in honor of early settler James Rudd, Savannah, Tennessee is the seat of Hardin County. It was renamed after the city in Georgia, which was the hometown of Mrs. Rudd. The Battle of Shiloh was fought here in 1862, and the Cherry Mansion commandeered the Cherry Mansion and used it as his headquarters during the battle.
