Manchester, Tennessee is the county seat of Coffee County, located midway between Chattanooga and Nashville. The tiny village of Mitchellsville was chosen to be the county seat, and when it was formed, its name was changed to Manchester, in honor of Manchester, England’s industrial city. With both the Big Duck River and the Little Duck River, the hope was that Manchester, Tennessee would become a similarly great industrial city.
