The town of North Kingstown is situated in Washington County, Rhode Island. Kings Towne was founded by the colonial government in 1674 and consisted of what is now North Kingston, South Kingston, Narragansett, and Exeter. It was at the center of King Philip’s War, which pitted the colonists against the Narragansett Indians, despite the fact that they had lived side-by-side for more than three decades.
