The city of Cleveland, Ohio is the seat of Cuyahoga County in northeastern Ohio. In 1796, surveyors of the Connecticut Land company laid out the state’s capital, they chose the name Cleaveland in honor of their leader, General Moses Cleaveland. The Village of Cleaveland was incorporated in 1814, and the slightly changed Cleveland was incorporated as a city in 1836.
