Garner, North Carolina is situated in Wake County. In 1957, the North Carolina Railroad built a line connecting Goldsboro and Charlotte, and the area that is now Garner was selected as the location of a railroad station. In 1878, the post office at Garner's Station, which would later become Garner, was established. There are numerous credible explanations of the origin of its name, including a black cabinet maker in town, or a man named H.C. Garner, though no record has been found of such a man.
