Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico is an alpine resort in Taos County. In the 1800s, it was settled by a group of miners and named Twining. The group later abandoned it. In 1955, Ernie and Rhoda Blake founded the area as a ski resort. The first ski lift was installed in 1956. The village was incorporated in 1996.
