The New Mexico village of Ruidoso, in Lincoln County, is a resort town located in the Sierra Blanca Mountains and the Sacramento Mountains are to the south, and the alpine scenery there makes it a popular resort town. The village gets its name from a nearby stream called Rio Ruidoso, which is Spanish for "Noisy River." It is home to the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack as well as Ski Apache and the Mescalero Apache ski resorts. The latter ski resort is owned by the Apache tribe, which also runs the Mountain Gods resort which boasts a casino, golf course, and hotel.
