The borough of Kenilworth, New Jersey is in Union County. It was originally named New Orange, but it was frequently confused with other municipalities in New Jersey, it changed the name to Kenilworth when it was incorporated as a borough in 1907. It was named, in a round about way, in honor of a novel written by Sir Walter Scott. In that novel, called "Kenilworth," focuses on a castle in Kenilworth, England called Kenilworth Castle. There was a book club locally, to which the founders of the town belonged, and that was what the town was named after.
