Glen Rock, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County. It was formed in 1894, during the "Boroughitis" craze that swept through Bergen County that year, when 26 boroughs were formed in that county alone. It was made from pieces of Saddle River and Ridgewood Township. It was settled around a very large boulder in a glen, or small valley, which is how it got its name. The boulder, which is at the corner of Doremus Avenue and Rock Road, weighs 520 tons and it thought to have been carried to its place of rest by a glacier near Peekskill, New York 15,000 years ago.
