Bogota, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County. Bogota was created in 1894 from parts of Ridgefield Township. In 1895, Frederick Cane was elected as the first Mayor, and the first meeting of the Borough officials had its first meeting. William Smith founded the Bogota Paper Company. In 1895, there were approximately 250 people living in Bogota, and in 1903, the population had more than doubled to 600; in 1912, it had blossomed to 1,00, and in 1930, it was 7,341.
