The town of Sugar Hill, New Hampshire is situated in Grafton County. It is named for the huge grove of sugar maples in the hills in town. Before it was incorporated in 1963, it was part of the town of Lisbon. While still part of the town of Lisbon, it became an attraction due to its location in the White Mountains, its view of the Presidential, Kinsman, Dalton, and Franconia ranges. Its Victorian style attracted summer people from Boston, Philadelphia, and New York who wanted to escape the busy cities, even if only for the summer. Numerous hotels are to be found there, including the regal Sunset Hill House.
