Milford, New Hampshire is located in Hillsborough County.  It was  incorporated into the nearby township of Dunstable.  The charter was granted October 16, 1673. It separated from Amherst in 1794, and was home to numerous granite quarries, giving it the nickname "The Granite Town." Milford's granite quarries created stone which was used to make all sorts of things, including the pillars for the United States Treasury.  In addition to the granite industry, Milford also had several textile mills. It was also a stop along the Underground Railroad.
