Concord, New Hampshire is the capital city as well as the county seat of Merrimack County. It was settled by Captain Ebenezer Eastman and a party from Haverhill, Massachusetts in the 1720s. It was incorporated as Rumford in 1734, but after a boundary dispute between it and the town of Bow, it was renamed “Concord,” a synonym for “harmony,” which reflected the settling of the dispute.
