Reno, Nevada, is the seat of Washoe County. Nicknamed “The Biggest Little City in the World,” it started out as nothing more than a toll bridge connecting Virginia City and the California Trail and some services which catered to those who crossed the bridge looking for gold. The city was named in honor of a Union soldier, Major General Jesse Lee Reno who was killed at the Battle of South Mountain in the War Between the States.
