Billings, Montana, is the county seat of Yellowstone County and is also the largest city in the state. It was founded as a railroad town in 1882 and is named in honor of Frederick Billings who was the President of the Northern Pacific Railroad. It is nicknamed the Magic City because of its phenomenal growth after its founding.
