Kansas City, Missouri, is located n four counties, Cass, Clay, Jackson, and Platte and along with the city of Independence, it is the county seat of Jackson. It was originally named “the Town of Kansas,” as it is situated at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, and is just across the river from Kansas City, Kansas.
