The port city of Duluth, Minnesota is the county seat of Saint Louis County. It is situated on the banks of Lake Superior, and along with the city of Superior it is one half of the so-called Twin Ports. It is known for Daniel Greysolon, Le Sieur du Luth, who came to the area in 1679 in order to further fur trading missions which involved his settling rivalries between the Ojibwe (anglicized as Chippewa) and the Dakota Sioux.
