The city of Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and is also the county seat of Suffolk County. Founded in 1630 by Puritan colonists from England, they are not the same Puritans who settled Plymouth Colony a decade prior. It was named in honor of Boston in Lincolnshire, England, which was the town from which many of the settlers hailed.
