Situated in central Florida, the city of Orlando is the county seat of Orange County. Nicknamed “The City Beautiful,” and is the home of the Walt Disney World Resort as well as the Universal Orlando Resort. It was first called Jernigan, in honor of the first permanent settler, Aaron Jernigan, who ended up owning the land via the Armed Occupation Act of 1842. It was later renamed after Orlando Reeves, a soldier who died during the Second Seminole War.
