New Haven, Connecticut is within New Haven County on the north shore of Long Island Sound on New Haven Harbor. It was founded by the Puritans in 1638 and is home to Yale University. It is the location of the country’s oldest public tree planting program, and the elms which were included are the reason for the city’s nickname, the Elm City.
