Conway, the seat of Faulkner County, Arkansas, was founded by Asa P. Robinson shortly after the Civil War. Robinson, the chief engineer for the railroad, deeded a small section of his land to the railroad, to be used as a depot. He then laid out the town around the depot in 1872, naming it Conway Station. The town was incorporated as a city in 1875.
