The landlocked Eastern European state called Moldova is, in reality, officially named the Republic of Moldova. It is situated between Ukraine and Romania and is one of the former states of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republic until the USSR was dissolved. The capital city is Chisinau, and the official language is the Romanian language known as Moldovan.
