Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is not to be confused with the People's Republic of China, which we call China. Taiwan is a sovereign state, it was in the recent pat known as Formosa. It borders China, and has as its capital the city of Taipei. The separate city called New Taipei is the largest city by population. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin.
