MMORPG is short for "massively multiplayer online role-playing game," which is any story-driven online game in which a player rakes on the persona of an imaginary character in a fantasy or virtual world and interacts with a large number of players in real time. This should not be confused with an MMOG, or "massively multiplayer online game," which is a game -- not necessarily a role-playing game -- in which players interact with a large number of other players.
