The lymphatic system, composed of lymph nodes, lymph vessels, and organs, exist in order to absorb extra fluid and return it to the bloodstream, absorb fat in the small intestine, and power the immune system. The immune system is what protects against disease via the identification and extermination of pathogens and bad cells.
