The Buddhist religion, founded by Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha, between 500 BC and 300 BC. There are two major branches of Buddhism, and more smaller branches, and the only doctrine on which they all agree is the doctrine of dependent origination. They believe that everything comes into an interdependent web of cause and effect, making liberation a possibility for all.
