Science fiction, also called "sci-fi," is a genre of fiction which addresses the possibilities of science and technology. The situations and possibilities are confined within the realm of possibility, and within scientifically postulated natural laws. Frequently, science fiction themes have to do with outer space or aliens, time travel, nanotechnology, or inventions imagined but not yet perfected in real life. Fantasy uses magic and other supernatural powers as an element of the plot.
