British singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse (September 14, 1983 - July 23, 2011) was born in Camden, London, England a father who was a window installer and taxi driver and a mother who was a pharmacist. She named her first album "Frank," in honor of Frank Sinatra and won numerous awards for her albums and her performances. She started her own record label in 2009, and her goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield was the first act she signed. She was married to Blake Fielder-Civil, and it was, by all accounts, a tumultuous marriage. Sher admitted that she was violent toward her husband when she was drinking, and there was a very public incident where the couple was found bruised and bloody in the streets of London. There are numerous photographs and it made the tabloids. The couple denied that they were fighting and both claimed the wounds were self-inflicted. He filed for divorce on the grounds of her adultery in 2009, and it was finalized uncontested by the diva. She struggled with drug addiction as well as bulimia and died of accidental alcohol poisoning after a series of drinking binges.
