The county seat of Curry County, New Mexico is the city of Clovis. Founded in 1906, when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway engineers chose it as a town site while the railroad was being built in the area. At that time, it was named Riley's Switch, but it was soon renamed by the station master's daughter, who had been reading about the Catholic king of the franks, King Clovis.
