The town of Churchill, on the Hudson Bay in Canada, is known as the “Polar Bear Capital of the World. Aside from the polar bears which are found all over town during migration, there are thousands of beluga whales which move into the Churchill River estuary in order to calf in the summer. It has a subarctic climate, and its economy is based, for the most part, on ecotourism.
